Coalition of Northern groups has rejected the endorsement of former Abia State Governor, Sen. Urji Uzor Kalu, for the presidency in 2023, by hired Jobless Northern Youths and politicians.
The group, in a communique on sunday after its emergency meeting in Kaduna, issued by the National Convener, Comr. Sani Saidu Muhammad, described Kalu's endorsement as “hasty, self-serving and does not have the mandate of the generality of Northerners,” and demanded the immediate withdrawal of the endorsement. He Also add that Sen. Urji kalu, during his administration as the Governor of Abia State, raped the economy the state to comma. Nigeria does not need such a person with such record. Nigeria needs a brand new Person with clean record. Nigeria can't continue to be making mistake all the time. The endorsement of Kalu by Arewa hired Persons, is an acceptance of guilt by those Northerners and an indictment to Northern Nigeria.
“The South has eminently qualified persons capable of transforming Nigeria if given the chance by the electorate to serve as President in 2023,” the communique reads.
“To this end, we view Kalu’s endorsement as too hasty and self-serving. Those clamouring for him to run for the presidency chose to jump the gun in what can only be interpreted as self-serving and an attempt to stampede the Progress of the Southern bloc.
“How some Jobless Youths, who are part of us, joined the bandwagon of some selfish Northern Politicians to engage in the controversial outing, is shocking and disappointing
“Whatever happened between Kalu and the politicians is a nullity and does not reflect the mood of Northern people.”
The coalition further stressed that some Northern leaders were already in the process of consultations across party lines to shop for the best candidate who would not only represent the interest of Ndigbo, but also has capacity and broad-mindness to carry along all Nigerians, irrespective of religion, tribe or political leanings.
“Nigerians are not ready to mess up the opportunity to present their best to Nigerians, as many prominent persons are being consulted before zeroing on one or two candidates among those interested in contesting the position.
“Coalition of Northern Groups vehemently opposes Kalu’s hasty endorsement for president of the country in 2023,” it added.

As the legendry Prime Minister of Singapore, Lee Kuan Yew, once told a Nigerian admirer, the secret of his country's historic transformation from obscur...
